“Turn to God”

Introduction:

There are three questions raised by the psalmist in Psalm 97.

     I.     Who is this God? V. 1-6

            A. God is in control.

Ex. 19:16-18

            B. People who call you to follow them will fail you.

     II.    Why should we not turn to idols? V. 7-9

            A. Idols are inadequate.

            B. The cross reminds us that God will deal with evil once and for all.

     III.   What does turning to God look like? V. 10-12

            A. Everything starts with God.

            B. Following Christ is countercultural and often costly.

Conclusion: Jesus is the reason we should turn to God in the chaos of life.
